OddShoeFinder.com's founder recently became aware of the large percentage of people
(At least 10% by some estimates.) who must buy two pairs of shoes due to differences
in sizes of their feet. He realized that there must be millions of unused shoes being
disposed of or gathering dust – shoes that could be used by others in a similar situation.
Searching the web, he found several charitable organizations that provide mismatched
or single shoes to people. Those organizations do very well with their limited resources
and reliance on contributions and volunteers, but cannot guarantee that the pair
of mismatched shoes will even be of the same brand. Other organizations have tried
to match one person with mismatched feet with another whose mismatched feet complement
the first person's. The problem with those efforts is that it is unlikely that both
people will have similar tastes or needs in shoes.
The founder of OddShoeFinder.com reasoned that there must be some way of putting people
who have odd shoes in touch with others who need odd shoes. OddShoeFinder.com is an
effort to help people with mismatched feet save money by no longer having to buy two
pairs of shoes, and allowing them to sell their own odd shoes.
